Crimson Sleep
The sword was Akbitanan, the very best weapons of this age and crafted by a master smith who left Koth to seek fame and fortune in Corinthia. The Akbitanan swords although not magical were known in legend to be virtually indestructible. Skaar, a Nordhiemer, andaslave turned slayer, had only ever used the weapons of the dead. He regarded these as nothing more than tools. This sword was to be different. As the smithy approached, he spoke.
"The Carmine Skull," he said with great pride and a hint of trepidation. He then described the blade in every detail, from the skull pommel to the sharpness of the blade, and how the very steel itself seemed to have a scarlet shine to it even in the brightest of light, as if it reflected the very blood it was yet to spill. Skaar took the blade into his hand and it almost seemed to sing to him as a feeling of awe overwhelmed him. As if in a trance, he focused only on the blade and all he could envision was the snow-covered mountains of his homeland as they began to run red with blood...
Skaar had foreseen his destiny, and so named the blade the Crimson Sleep to warn any enemies of the fate that awaited those who opposed him on his journey to face the King of Aquilonia...Conan the Conqueror.
