Wood - Xylomelum Occidentale (Woody Pear)

Spring is the season of new life, and as the ground warms, one of the first denizens of the animal kingdom we begin to notice emerging is the serpent. The Snake shedding it's skin is a symbol of our constant release of the old for better new phases in our life. As such the snake is a symbol of transmutation. Snake totem is the power of creation and embodies immortality and psychic energy. He has fire energy which, emotionally, are charisma, intellect, power and the intellect; spiritually, connection with Spirit, wisdom, wholeness and understanding. On the physical level, they are vitality and passion.

In Australian Aboriginal Dreamtime Legend it was a great rainbow serpent (Woggal in the native land of this wood - South Western Australia) which shaped the earth from a wide flat plane giving it all it's contours, hills and gulleys. With each new thrust of his huge multi-coloured body, a landform was created. He was the biggest of the Dreamtime Beings. At last, tired with the effort of shaping the earth, he crawled into a waterhole to be cooled and soothed and then sank out of sight.
